Gachagua’s Ally Likely To Win Top Seat In Mt Kenya, New Poll Reveals

Mohamed Aden, popularly known as The Don, has recorded 30.7% support in a new opinion poll on the Thika Constituency parliamentary race ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The survey by Swiss Poll International puts Aden ahead of Wainaina Njungle, who secured 26.3% of the responses, setting up a closely contested race between the two aspirants.

According to the poll results released on Saturday, October 10, Aden received 1,365 votes against Njungle’s 1,167, giving him a lead of 4.4 percentage points.

East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) lawmaker Maina Karobia came third with 15.8%, representing 702 respondents who selected him as their preferred candidate.

David Gakuyo followed with 7.6%, equivalent to 337 votes, while Nicholas Nderiru secured 6.4%, representing 286 respondents.

Ephrahim Wanaina received 3.6% support, translating to 158 votes. Another 9.6% of respondents, equivalent to 426 people, preferred other candidates.

The survey covered 4,441 respondents across Thika Constituency and was conducted at a 95% confidence level, with a reported margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

The findings provide an early snapshot of voter preferences as political aspirants position themselves ahead of the next general election. However, the figures reflect respondents’ preferences at the time of the survey and do not establish how voters will ultimately cast their ballots in 2027.

With several candidates already featuring in the constituency contest, the coming months are expected to provide further indications of how voter preferences develop as campaigns take shape.

The poll results have placed attention on Aden and Njungle, whose reported support levels are separated by a relatively narrow margin, while other aspirants remain in contention according to the survey.
