Benue People Are Comparing Alia With Father Adasu,That As A Gov Adasu Did Better Than Alia—Onaiyekan

Cardinal John Onaiyekan has stated that some people in Benue State said Father Moses Adasu, a former governor of Benue State, performed better than Governor Hyacinth Alia is doing so far

In an interview with Symfoni TV, Onaiyekan said Father Adasu was among the state governors whose time in office was cut short during the military regime of former Head of State Sani Abacha. As a result, Onaiyekan said Adasu did not complete his term, making it difficult to fully assess his performance as governor.

Onaiyekan also stated that Adasu’s bishop and the Catholic church did not support his decision to enter politics

In Onaiyekan’s words: “Now the people of Benue State is comparing Alia with Adasu in a negative way, that Father Adasu did better. But as you know Adasu was one of those governors whose reign were cut short by [Abacha]. So he didn’t even finish his term, so we can’t even assess how successful that experiment was”
