Chelsea Starting Lineup vs Bournemouth as £47m New Signing Is Set for His Premier League Debut

According to a report by Football London on October 10, 2026, Chelsea could welcome back Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo to their starting lineup when they host Bournemouth in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge this afternoon. The Blues have also received a major boost with new signing Marco Palestra expected to make his competitive debut.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will be eager to guide his side back to winning ways after going three consecutive Premier League matches without a victory. With several important players returning from injury, the Spanish coach has more options available as Chelsea prepare for a challenging encounter against Bournemouth.

Jamie Gittens is the only player confirmed to be unavailable, having suffered an ankle injury while on England Under-21 duty. However, the returns of Palmer, Joao Pedro, Caicedo, Reece James and Palestra provide Alonso with a significant boost ahead of the fixture.

In goal, Emiliano Martinez is expected to retain his place despite having only one training session following his return from international duty. Mike Penders is likely to start on the bench.

Wesley Fofana could feature in defence alongside Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill if Alonso decides to use a back three. Although Fofana has struggled for consistency recently, his availability and recent training involvement could give him the advantage over Josh Acheampong.

Pedro Neto is expected to operate as a wing-back after returning to Cobham earlier in the week. Reece James could also return to the starting lineup, potentially featuring in central midfield as Chelsea look to improve their performances in that area.

Caicedo’s return is particularly important for the Blues. The Ecuadorian midfielder has played only 14 minutes this season because of a persistent calf problem, but he has now been declared fit. However, Alonso is unlikely to risk playing him for the entire match following his extended absence.

Palestra is another player attracting attention ahead of the Bournemouth clash. The new signing is expected to make his competitive Chelsea debut, with the Italian defender potentially operating on the left side of the team.

In attack, Palmer could return to the starting lineup after his recent fitness concerns. However, the Chelsea manager is expected to manage his minutes carefully to avoid another setback.

Morgan Rogers is also expected to feature after impressing for England during the international break. The £117 million signing has enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign and will be hoping to continue his impressive performances.

Joao Pedro has also been declared fit after missing Brazil duty because of a knee injury. The Brazilian forward has recorded three goals and three assists in four Premier League appearances this season, making his return a major boost for Chelsea.

Predicted Chelsea XI vs Bournemouth (3-4-3): Martinez; Fofana, Lacroix, Colwill; Neto, James, Caicedo, Palestra; Palmer, Rogers, Joao Pedro.
