Medeama SC have advanced to the quarter-final of the 2025/2026 FA Cup campaign after defeating Samartex 1996 in a highly competitive round 16 clash on Saturday.

The match, held at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa ended in a pulsating goalless draw after regular time, forcing the teams to settle the tie via penalty shootouts.

However, it was the Yellow and Mauve who prevailed with a 4-2 victory on penalties, ensuring qualification to the last eight of the Cup competition this season.

The match was a tightly contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities but failing to find the back of the net. The 0-0 stalemate after regular time meant that the winner of the match would be decided via penalties.

Medeama SC held their nerve, converting four of their kicks, while the Timbers Boys managed to convert only two of their kicks. The win sees the Yellow and Mauve advancing to the quarterfinal of the competition, whereas Samartex bows out.

With this victory, Medeama continue their impressive run and will look to build momentum as the FA Cup competition heats up.

Meanwhile, the Yellow and Mauve quest of securing double this season remain on course, having advance to the quarterfinal of the FA Cup and also sitting at the summit of the Ghana Premier League standings.

Nations FC are through to the quarter-final of this year’s FA Cup competition after triumphing over Swedru All Blacks in the round of 16 clash on Saturday.

The match, held at the DR. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex ended 2-1 in favour of Nations FC, ensuring their qualification to the last eight of the Cup competition.

Nations FC scored in either side of the pitch to secure victory over their Ghana Premier League counterparts. The Swedru-based club were banking on new coach Kasim Mingle’s experience to upset Nations FC, but the Abrankese-based club proved to be a stronger opponent.

The win sees Frimpong Manso’s outfit advancing to the quarterfinal of the Cup competition, whiles Swedru All Blacks bows out. Nations FC will look to build momentum as the competition heats up.

With this victory, Nations FC’s quest of securing the Cup competition for the first time in their history remain on course.

Having been knocked out of the FA Cup, All Blacks will shift their attention to the Ghana Premier League as they look to maintain their status in the top-flight.
