Players struggle for the ball

Medeama SC’s impressive 17-match unbeaten run in the Premier League was brought to an abrupt end on Friday afternoon following a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.

The league leaders made a blistering start and took the lead inside eight minutes when in-form striker Kingsley Braye rose highest to power home a fine header from a perfectly delivered Fuzy Taylor corner, handing the Mauve and Yellow an early advantage.

Nations FC, however, showed great character and determination to fight back, with skipper Razak Simpson leading by example. The centre-back drew the hosts level in the 19th minute, towering above the defence to nod home from a corner and beat Medeama goalkeeper Felix Kyei.

Just before halftime, Simpson capped a memorable first-half display by completing his brace. Nations FC were awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute, and the captain kept his composure to slot the ball into the bottom corner, turning the contest around and sending the hosts into the break with a 2-1 lead.

Medeama pushed forward with urgency after the restart, piling pressure on the Nations FC backline in search of an equaliser. Despite sustained attacks, the home side remained organised and resolute, defending with discipline to protect their lead until the final whistle.

The defeat represents only Medeama SC’s second loss of the season and their first in 18 matches, bringing an end to a remarkable unbeaten streak that had lasted since September 2025.
