Prophet Linked to Chivayo Arrested as Alleged Audio Reveals Final Ritual Plans

A private voice message attributed to Wicknell Chivayo has surfaced online, adding fresh intrigue to the story of the Zimbabwean businessman killed in a helicopter accident last week.

The recording, said to have been sent to the preacher David Gozho, who is known to followers as Madzibaba David, has been shared widely since the tragedy.

According to reports, the voice on the clip is genuinely Chivayo’s. He is heard expressing appreciation for charms supplied by the preacher, which he credited with improving his standing with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

He also asks whether the cleric, who heads a Johane Masowe eChishanu church, could carry out another ceremony at Lake Kariba. The reported idea was to sink a clay pot containing ritual items into the water.

In the message, Chivayo is also said to have pledged a vehicle to the preacher once his ventures turned profitable. Accounts suggest he followed through, gifting a new Toyota Fortuner along with a bus.

Authorities detained Gozho in Goromonzi on Sunday, accusing him of involvement in an armed robbery in which an EcoCash agent was relieved of US$12,000. He is scheduled to face a regional court in Marondera.

Many people suspect he may have been the one who released the audio, and some commentators are asking whether the timing of his arrest is purely coincidental, given how close he was to the late tycoon.

Separately, relatives have shed light on the crash. Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, perished on September 30 when their aircraft came down in thick mist at Kudenga Farm near Marondera, roughly forty minutes after leaving the ground.

They were flying back from a country home they were building. The two pilots and a security guard also lost their lives.

A family spokesman, Herbert Chivayo, said the burning wreckage left the victims severely damaged and confirmed that no heads were found, rejecting online speculation and noting the couple would be laid to rest without them.
