Video of Charlene Ruto complaining about too much security at her wedding emerges

A video of Charlene Ruto expressing frustration over the heavy security presence at her wedding to Isaya Yunge in Mwanza, Tanzania, has emerged.

In the video, Charlene is seen walking hand in hand with her husband while her parents, President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto, walk a few steps ahead of them. The president’s daughter appears to notice security officers standing close to the couple and signals to them as she tries to make a request.

“These are our photographers, please,” Charlene said while gesturing towards the security officers.

Her father, William Ruto, then appeared to respond to her as he used his hands to signal her to calm down. The brief exchange showed the president reacting to his daughter’s request as they continued walking during the wedding ceremony.

“Ei wewe,” William Ruto said.

Charlene, however, appeared unconvinced by the security arrangements as she expressed how much the presence of security officers was affecting the occasion. She seemed to have reached a point of frustration as she spoke about the number of officers around them.

“Security are too much…they are too much,” Charlene said.

The video emerged after Tanzania intensified security in Mwanza ahead of Charlene and Isaya’s wedding on Friday, November 6, 2026. Police deployed additional officers to protect guests expected to attend the high-profile ceremony. Prominent political figures and other dignitaries from Kenya and Tanzania were expected at the event.

The wedding was held at Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, with security measures also covering hotels hosting guests and areas around Lake Victoria.

Mwanza Regional Police Commander DCP Wilbrod Mutafungwa said officers had increased patrols across different parts of the city ahead of the ceremony. He explained that the measures were intended to ensure guests and those attending the wedding remained safe.

“Already, our officers have intensified patrols in all areas, including dry land, hotels, as well as the shores of Lake Victoria. Our goal is to ensure the ceremony happens in an environment of peace and tranquillity, with adequate security,” Mutafungwa said.
