Bad News for Ruto as Prominent Figure Reveals His Plans Ahead of 2027 – Details
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has accused President William Ruto of allowing UDA-aligned leaders to frustrate her administration by blocking the county’s 2026/2027 financial year budget.
Speaking in a video shared on Saturday, November 7, Wavinya claimed that Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) allied to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) were behind the delay in approving the county budget.
The governor directly addressed President Ruto, questioning why leaders would allegedly work against the approval of a budget meant to support development and essential services in Machakos County.
She warned that the continued standoff could affect residents, particularly those who depend on public hospitals for medical services.
According to Wavinya, the county government cannot effectively carry out its responsibilities without an approved budget. She pointed out that the supply of medicine to public hospitals and other development activities could suffer.
The governor further questioned how residents would benefit from government services if political disagreements continued to interfere with county operations.
Her remarks come weeks after Machakos MCAs raised concerns over the prolonged budget deadlock, warning that the County Assembly could shut down due to financial difficulties.
On October 15, Majority Leader Nicholas Nzioka said the lack of an approved budget had affected the Assembly’s operations and could delay salaries for MCAs and staff.
The Speaker had also announced the suspension of medical cover following unpaid insurance premiums. The Assembly further faced concerns over unremitted statutory deductions.
The dispute has raised concerns over the possible impact on bursaries, road construction, water projects and healthcare services.
Wavinya’s latest accusations have now brought President Ruto into the centre of the Machakos budget dispute, with the governor demanding an end to the political interference.
However, the President has not been shown to have publicly responded to the latest allegations.
