Sifuna Announces His Next Move in Case He Loses His 2027 Presidential Bid

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has revealed that he has another career to fall back on should his political ambitions fail, saying he is ready to return to legal practice.

Speaking on Saturday night, November 7, 2026, during the second edition of the Ngemi Cia Watho event at Thika Greens Golf Resort in Kiambu County, Sifuna maintained that he remains a lawyer despite his growing involvement in politics.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement leader said that even if things do not work out for him in politics, he can return to his law firm and continue serving clients.

“I have always known that even if things don’t work out for me out here, I am still a lawyer. I can always return to my kiosk and continue with my business. I consider myself a lawyer always,” Sifuna said.

His remarks come at a time when he is increasingly involved in efforts to build a political movement ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna has emerged as one of the key figures in the opposition’s political activities, with his Linda Mwananchi Movement seeking a bigger role in determining the country’s next leadership.

He has also been working with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition leaders despite their previous political disagreements.

During the same event, Sifuna addressed his past differences with Gachagua, arguing that their shared objective of challenging President William Ruto was more important than their personal disagreements.

The senator also reminded members of the legal profession about their responsibility to defend the Constitution, democracy and the rule of law.

Sifuna’s comments have offered a glimpse into his thinking as the country gradually moves towards the 2027 elections.

While he continues to pursue his political ambitions, he has made it clear that his legal career remains an option.

His statement also raises an interesting question: Could Sifuna return to practising law if his political journey takes a different direction?
