“Ruto Has Launched One Project Four Times in Nyamira, Yet Government Work Has Stalled,” Matiang’i
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has criticised President William Ruto over what he described as repeated project launches in Nyamira County, questioning the progress of development projects undertaken by the National Government.
Matiang’i accused the President of repeatedly presenting the same projects to residents instead of addressing what he considers stalled government programmes.
In his remarks, Matiang’i questioned why Ruto would visit a project several times to launch it, yet the National Government was allegedly struggling to deliver its responsibilities.
He also raised concerns about the President’s involvement in projects funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), arguing that launching a computer project involving only 30 computers, funded through the CDF, should not be presented as a major achievement of the National Government.
Matiang’i suggested that the President was using such occasions to seek political attention while avoiding questions about the implementation of national development projects.
He further accused the administration of misleading Kenyans with repeated promises, saying the public had grown tired of what he termed as unfulfilled commitments and political explanations.
His remarks amount to a direct criticism of Ruto’s development record, particularly the distinction between projects funded by the National Government and those implemented through CDF allocations.
The comments come as political leaders continue to intensify their criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration, with development delivery, accountability and the use of public resources emerging as major issues in the country’s political debate ahead of the 2027 General Election.
