“Ruto Deceives Everyone Equally” Former Rift Valley MP Exposes What Happened to Nandi Project
Former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has criticised President William Ruto over a rural electrification project in Nandi County, drawing a comparison with an incident he says happened during the President’s visit to Embu County.
In a social media post, Keter used sharp words, saying Ruto “does not discriminate in deceiving the people.”
The remarks followed a post shared by Tirop IK, who recalled that Ruto visited Kaiboi in Nandi on October 17.
According to the account, trucks belonging to the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) arrived carrying electricity poles.
Engineers were also reportedly present and ready to begin work on the electrification project.
The post stated that the President launched the project during the visit, raising expectations among residents that their homes would soon be connected to electricity.
However, the writer claimed the situation changed shortly after Ruto left. The account alleged that the trucks departed with the poles, while the engineers who had been at the site also disappeared.
The writer then appealed directly to REREC, asking the corporation to return the electricity poles and send the engineers back to the site.
The post also called for the promised project to proceed as launched and directed by the President.
The claims shared online have not been accompanied by an explanation from the corporation.
Keter reacted by saying that what he believes happened in Embu was repeated in Nandi, which he described as Ruto’s home county.
His comment appeared to mock the handling of the two situations and question whether residents were being given promises without seeing the work completed.
The post has put the spotlight on expectations created by project launches and the need for clear updates on when announced public works will reach local communities and whether residents will ever receive the promised connections on time.
