Ruto Announces New Funding Model Affecting University, KMTC and TVET Students From January 2027

President William Ruto has announced a new education funding model for universities, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students, effective January 2027.Speaking during an interdenominational church service at Nyamaiya Stadium in Nyamira County on Sunday, November 8, 2026, Ruto said the government had developed the model in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary for Education and the leadership of the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
