Relebohile Mofokeng’s start to life in Europe couldn’t have gone much better.

Mofokeng has sparkled in his debut campaign with Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, scoring five times and laying on four assists in 15 outings for the Belgian side. Most recently, he was a key creative force as Mofokeng and his teammates claimed an impressive win away to Celta Vigo in the Europa League. The 22-year-old scored on his European debut against Viktoria Plzen and has been nominated for the Jupiter Pro League Player of the Month for October. Union SG have Mofokeng contracted to them until 2029, so they hold powerful leverage if other clubs come in for the talented Bafana star. Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg are among the teams interested.

Rele Mofokeng’s old club Pirates vanquished archrivals Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in last Saturday’s Soweto Derby. This effectively ruling the Glamour Boys out of the title race after just nine matches. Orlando Pirates boss Abdeslam Ouaddou notched his 50th win for a PSL club in the process. The Sea Robbers have won four of the last six meetings between the sides. Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana have a double-header of AFCON qualifiers on the horizon against Kenya. Pitso Mosimane’s side meet the Kenyans, under the tutelage of Benni McCarthy, on 13 November and 17 November.
