Panic in Delta as Thugs Invade NDC Campaign Ground, Attack Supporters, Smash Vehicles

A political campaign rally organised by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Delta State reportedly descended into violence on Saturday, November 7, 2026, after suspected hoodlums allegedly attacked party supporters who had gathered for the event.

According to a report by The Vanguard, the unexpected assault disrupted the political gathering, leaving several participants injured and causing damage to property. The incident has also raised concerns about political violence and the safety of supporters as activities ahead of the elections continue to intensify.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the situation deteriorated when a group of suspected armed thugs suddenly invaded the rally venue while party members were campaigning and mobilising support.

The attack reportedly triggered confusion and panic as attendees struggled to escape from the scene. Videos circulating on social media captured the chaotic moments, showing people running in different directions and leaving behind campaign materials and personal belongings.

During the commotion, several individuals reportedly sustained injuries, while some participants lost their mobile phones, wallets and identification documents.

A vehicle parked close to the rally ground was also attacked, with its windows smashed and parts of its body reportedly damaged by the assailants.

Reacting to the incident, a voice heard in one of the circulating videos expressed disappointment over the disruption, saying: “We came here to campaign in peace. We did not come to fight anybody. What happened today is not good for democracy.”

The development has attracted criticism from concerned citizens and political observers, who have urged security authorities in Delta State to investigate the incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
