Okudzeto Ablakwa Lied; 4 Diplomatic Passports and 24 Service Passports Were Sold –Miracles Aboagye
According to an Official Facebook Post by Kojo Anane Sonkondo on 8 November 2026, the Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Miracles Aboagye, has challenged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ account of the alleged illegal sale of Ghanaian diplomatic and service passports.
Miracles Aboagye rejected the ministry’s assertion that no diplomatic passports had been sold, insisting that information available to the NPP suggests otherwise.
According to him, evidence available to the party indicates that four diplomatic passports and 24 service passports were allegedly sold under the supervision of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
He consequently accused the minister of providing misleading information to the public and questioned the credibility of the ministry’s statement regarding the passport scandal.
Miracles Aboagye also disputed the ministry’s account that the alleged illegal sale of service passports dates back to 2023. He described that timeline as false, suggesting that the transactions occurred under circumstances different from those presented by the ministry.
In another serious allegation, the NPP Communications Director claimed that Hon. Ablakwa appointed the Director of Passports to orchestrate the alleged illegal passport transactions.
He further alleged that the Director of Passports had previously been dismissed in 2024 under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration but was subsequently reinstated by Hon. Ablakwa after the NDC government assumed office.
According to Miracles Aboagye, the reinstatement was allegedly part of an arrangement intended to establish a cartel responsible for the sale of diplomatic and service passports.
These allegations introduce a major disagreement between the NPP Communications Director and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the number of passports involved, the timeline of the alleged transactions and the individuals responsible.
The ministry had earlier indicated that four service passports were allegedly sold in 2023, with another six allegedly sold in 2026. It also maintained that no diplomatic passports had been sold.
Miracles Aboagye’s claims of four diplomatic passports and 24 service passports therefore present a significantly different account that requires documentary clarification.
The competing accounts make an independent investigation particularly important. Investigators will need to establish the number and categories of passports involved, identify the individuals responsible, examine the relevant appointments and administrative decisions, and determine whether any public officials facilitated illegal transactions.
Ultimately, the controversy places the integrity of Ghana’s passport administration system under public scrutiny, with growing demands for transparency and accountability from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is important to emphasise that the claims made by Miracles Aboagye remain allegations and have not, on the information provided, been independently established.
