How I Wish Paul Adom-Otchere Gets To Parliament In 2028 — Awal Mohammed
A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Team, Awal Mohammed, has expressed his desire to see veteran journalist Paul Adom-Otchere enter Parliament in the 2028 general elections, arguing that his experience in journalism would benefit Ghana’s law-making process.
In a Facebook post shared on his official page on November 8, 2026, Awal Mohammed praised Paul Adom-Otchere for his contributions to Ghana’s media landscape, describing him as one of the most influential voices in the country’s broadcasting industry. He also compared the veteran journalist to renowned American television and radio host Larry King because of his long-standing influence and interviewing experience.
Awal Mohammed highlighted Paul Adom-Otchere’s 25-year career as host of Good Evening Ghana, insisting that the programme remains one of the most widely watched television shows on Tuesdays and Thursdays, regardless of whether some viewers agree with its host’s views.
He further noted that Paul Adom-Otchere is a former BBC reporter who has interviewed all presidents under Ghana’s Fourth Republic, as well as ministers, Members of Parliament and other prominent public figures. According to him, the journalist’s extensive experience has given him a unique understanding of Ghana’s political and governance landscape.
Awal Mohammed also recalled Paul Adom-Otchere’s involvement in the Yegye Ye Sika demonstration, where he reportedly participated both as a reporter and a demonstrator. He described the experience as another indication of the journalist’s engagement with important national issues beyond the television studio.
The NPP communicator expressed the hope that Paul Adom-Otchere would contest for a parliamentary seat in 2028, arguing that his professional background and knowledge of public affairs would make him a valuable addition to Ghana’s legislature.
