Vihiga woman representative Beatrice Adagala has publicly dismissed Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna's presidential ambitions, arguing that his habit of appearing at public events in T-shirts disqualifies him from leading Kenya.

The meeting brought together bishops and religious leaders from various denominations.

Speaking with evident passion before the crowd, Adagala invoked her academic background to press her case against Sifuna.

She went further, drawing a contrast between Sifuna's style and the seriousness she associates with government, asking the audience directly: "Do you want kalongolongo or do you want government?"

Sifuna is widely recognised for his deliberately casual public image, regularly appearing at rallies, funerals, and other public functions in T-shirts, loafers, and khaki trousers, reserving formal attire largely for sessions at the National Assembly and selected official engagements.

A substantial portion of Adagala's address was devoted to defending and championing Mudavadi, whom she described in deeply personal terms as a son of Hannah and Moses Budamba who had earned his standing in government through years of public service.

She revealed that she had initially harboured reservations about the political path Mudavadi chose but was ultimately persuaded by his conviction.

Adagala closed her remarks with a direct appeal to those present not to allow Mudavadi's standing to be undermined, saying: "It is not easy to build someone up to the position he has reached today."

In other news, COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli opposed Sifuna’s presidential ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He also said he would rather die than see Sifuna become president. He argued that Sifuna is immature, lacks financial resources and has poor personal hygiene.
