Meet a Kenyan Man Working Behind the Scenes at WWE as an EVS Replay Operator

A Kenyan man is making his mark in the international entertainment industry through his behind-the-scenes role at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he works as an EVS Replay Operator.

Although he is not one of the wrestlers entertaining fans inside the ring, his work plays an important role in bringing the action to millions of viewers watching WWE broadcasts around the world.

In a video shared while showcasing his experience, the Kenyan man expressed excitement at witnessing live wrestling, something he grew up watching on television.

“Nimegrow nikiwatch kina Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena wakicheza wrestling. Leo naona wrestling live,” he said, proudly showing off a Kenyan wristband on his hand.

His statement captured the excitement of someone who grew up following some of WWE’s biggest wrestling stars and has now found himself working within the same entertainment industry.

His responsibilities as an EVS Replay Operator include selecting and replaying key moments during wrestling matches, from powerful finishing moves and dramatic attacks to crucial moments that determine the outcome of a contest.

Using specialised replay technology, he works with different camera angles and slow-motion footage to ensure viewers get another look at important moments that may have happened within seconds.

The job requires technical expertise, concentration and quick decision-making, particularly during live television productions.

While WWE superstars attract attention for their performances inside the ring, a team of skilled professionals works behind the cameras to ensure every important moment reaches viewers at the right time.

His journey highlights the presence of Kenyan talent in the global entertainment industry and offers a glimpse into the many opportunities available beyond the spotlight.
