Charlene Ruto reveals she transported honey from Kenya to Tanzania to gift her wedding guests

Charlene Ruto has revealed how she transported honey from her bee farms in Kenya to Tanzania to give guests at her wedding a special gift that would remind them of the warmth and sweetness of her home country.

In a Facebook post published on Sunday, November 8, 2026, Charlene explained that she wanted to give those who attended her wedding something meaningful to appreciate their presence, settling on honey as a way of sharing a taste of Kenya with them.

She said the idea came from her desire to remind guests how much their attendance meant to her, choosing a product from her own farms rather than an ordinary wedding souvenir.

“When thinking of what to gift my wedding guests it was inevitable to remind them how their sweet presence meant the world to me, thus the idea of honey!”

Charlene disclosed that the honey was transported all the way from her bee farms in Kenya to Tanzania, where she intended to distribute it to guests who had travelled to celebrate with her and her husband, Isaya Yunge.

“Transported honey all the way from my bee farms in Kenya to share with them the sweetness of my motherland,” she added.

However, the supply she had carried from Kenya did not turn out to be enough for all the guests. Charlene revealed that the honey ran out, forcing her to look for additional supplies in Mwanza, the Tanzanian city where the wedding celebrations were held.

She explained that she eventually bought more honey from a local producer, turning the shortage into an opportunity to support a business in the country that had hosted her wedding.

“However, I hadn’t packed enough na vile iliisha I had to buy some from Mwanza town, very glad to have supported a local honey producer while at it!”

The former First Daughter said the arrangement allowed her guests to experience honey from both countries, bringing together a product from her Kenyan farms and honey sourced from Tanzania.

“My guests got to experience the sweetness of Kenya and Tanzania,” she ended.

Charlene and Isaya Yunge held their traditional wedding ceremony on August 8, 2026, before proceeding with celebrations in Tanzania. The wedding brought together family members, friends and prominent guests from Kenya and Tanzania.

The celebrations also included a bridal shower held in Nairobi on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, attended by close friends and family members, including her sister, Stephanie Jepchumba.

The couple’s white wedding celebrations were held in Mwanza, with Malaika Beach Resort featuring in the arrangements shared ahead of the occasion. Several prominent Kenyan guests attended, including politicians and personalities who travelled to Tanzania to celebrate with the couple.
