Boy Mamabolo’s Born To Win Party Makes Election Breakthrough, Secures First Council Seat
Former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament Boy Mamabolo’s newly established political party, Born To Win (BTW), has secured its first council seat in South Africa’s 2026 Local Government Elections.
The development marks an important milestone for the relatively new political organisation, which Mamabolo launched after leaving the ANC.
According to the election figures available as of 19:11 on November 7, 2026, with approximately 99% of the votes counted, Born To Win had received 1,863 votes nationally, representing approximately 0.01% of the total national support.
In Limpopo, where the party appears to have made its electoral breakthrough, it recorded approximately 0.07% support.
Despite its relatively small share of the overall vote, the party managed to secure one seat in a municipal council, giving it representation in local government for the first time.
However, the party has not secured control of any municipality, with its current council representation limited to the single seat.
Mamabolo’s achievement comes after his departure from the ANC and subsequent decision to establish an independent political movement under the Born To Win banner.
The former MP now faces the challenge of building the party’s structures, increasing its membership and establishing a stronger presence in South African politics.
Although the party’s national electoral support remains limited, securing a council seat provides an opportunity to participate directly in municipal decision-making and represent its supporters.
The result also demonstrates the difficulties smaller political parties face when competing against established organisations with extensive political structures and voter support.
For Mamabolo and his supporters, the first council seat represents the beginning of Born To Win’s journey in local government politics.
