Aisha Yesufu Reacts As TundeEdnut Blames Kalu For Crowd Chanting Peter Obi’s Name At APC Rally In Abia
Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has reacted after social media personality Tunde Ednut criticised Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, over a viral moment in which a crowd reportedly chanted the name of Peter Obi during an APC campaign rally in Abia State.
The incident occurred when Kalu was addressing supporters at the gathering organised to canvass support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Rather than respond to the APC message, some members of the crowd were heard chanting āObi! Obi!ā, referring to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Sharing the video, Tunde Ednut described the incident as an embarrassing moment for the deputy speaker, claiming that supporters of Obi, popularly known as Obidients, overwhelmed the campaign venue with chants in favour of their preferred candidate.
āThe moment Benjamin Kalu was massively disgraced at his very own APC campaign. OBIdientsā chant of āOBI! OBI!!ā overwhelmed the whole campaign venue,ā Ednut wrote.
Reacting to the development, Yesufu blamed Kalu for the situation, suggesting that his previous remarks against Obi had contributed to the reaction he received from the crowd.
āHe set himself up unprovoked! He had no reason to take on Peter Obi and he did in a bid to please Tinubu,ā she said.
The activist further claimed that Kalu’s actions had displeased the very people he was expected to represent.
āHe ended up displeasing the very people he was supposed to serve!!!!!!ā Yesufu added.
The video has since generated reactions on social media, with supporters of different political camps offering contrasting interpretations of the crowd’s chants during the APC gathering.
