Tupac Killer’s Lawyer Found Dead Days After Filing Appeal

The lawyer who represented convicted Tupac Shakur killer Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been found dead in Las Vegas, United States, days after filing an appeal against his client’s murder conviction.

Michael Sanft, 55, was found dead at his home on Friday, November 6, according to reports citing the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The cause and manner of his death have not been established, while police reportedly said the circumstances did not appear suspicious.

Sanft represented Davis during his trial over the 1996 murder of Shakur, who was shot in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas and died six days later.

Davis was convicted of first-degree murder in August 2026 and sentenced to 40 years to life in prison on October 13.

He was the only person charged in connection with the rapper’s killing.

Sanft had filed a notice of appeal on October 30, challenging Davis’s conviction. He had previously indicated that the defence team intended to contest the verdict.

Following the conviction, Sanft told Fox 5 that he believed his legal team had done everything possible to defend Davis.

The lawyer was a prominent trial attorney in Nevada and had represented Davis without charge during the high-profile murder case.

His death means Davis will require new legal representation as his appeal proceeds.
