Today’s Headlines: Tinubu Will Lose Over Insecurity — ADC; OBJ Urges Youths To Build Nigeria
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kenneth Imasuagbon, has said that President Bola Tinubu will lose the 2027 election.
Imasuagbon stated this on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he said Tinubu has failed on security and has no idea how to fix it.
He was reacting to the state of insecurity in the country and the performance of the Tinubu administration.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has challenged Nigerian youths to take active responsibility for building a prosperous, secure, and united country, declaring that the future of Nigeria depends largely on the quality of its education, leadership, and younger generation.
Obasanjo gave the charge while delivering the convocation lecture at the 6th Convocation Ceremony of KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, held as part of activities marking the institution’s 10th anniversary.
Speaking on the theme: “The Nigeria We Want: Education, Leadership and the Responsibility of a New Generation,” the former president urged graduating students to look beyond their academic certificates and recognise their roles as contributors to national development.
The Federal Ministry of Education has cancelled all 2026 admissions into the National Certificate in Education (NCE) and degree programmes at the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, over breaches of mission and accreditation requirements.
In a statement, the ministry’s spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, also directed the institution to stop all university affiliations and degree-awarding arrangements.
The ministry explained that the NTI will no longer process any admissions into full-time, part-time or Distance Learning Studies (DLS) for NCE or Bachelor’s degree programmes.
It also advised the public not to apply, accept admission offers or make payments for such programmes.
“All admissions into NTI’s NCE and degree programmes for the 2026 academic session have been cancelled, while the institute has been directed to discontinue all university affiliations and degree-awarding arrangements, as it is not authorised to award NCE and university degrees,” the statement reads in part.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Prof. Labode Popoola, has revealed how he confronted powerful interests and made difficult decisions to keep the institution from collapsing during his five-year tenure.
He said his administration initially pursued dialogue and persuasion to get stakeholders to change their conduct in the interest of the university and Osun State but had to adopt a tougher approach when those efforts failed.
Popoola disclosed this on Saturday during the public presentation of his book, ‘Navigating Stormy Waters: My Voyage Through UNIOSUN’, at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement issued by Israel Scroll Media, the former VC said he was willing to take unpopular steps, including offending influential individuals, to protect the institution.
