Sundowns Ladies Confirm Semi-Final Place as Third CAF Champions League Crown Beckons
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 CAF Womenβs Champions League after producing an impressive 3-0 victory over Morocco’s FUS Rabat at Ismailia Stadium in Egypt on Saturday afternoon.
The South African side delivered a strong performance to secure their second victory of the tournament and finish their Group A campaign on a positive note. The result also confirmed their position at the top of the group with seven points from three matches, having recorded two wins and one draw.
Godfrey Sapula’s team showed their attacking intentions from the opening minutes as they looked to take control of the match. Boitumelo Rabale was among the first players to threaten the opposition goal, forcing the FUS Rabat goalkeeper into action with an attempt in the fifth minute.
Rabale had another opportunity just two minutes later, but the Moroccan goalkeeper once again denied her from finding the back of the net.
However, Sundowns Ladies continued putting pressure on their opponents and eventually found the breakthrough through Bambanani Mbane. The defender rose highest to connect with a header that went off the post before crossing the line, giving Banyana Ba Style a deserved 1-0 advantage.
FUS Rabat attempted to respond before the break, but Sundowns goalkeeper Andile Dlamini showed her importance to the team with an excellent one-on-one save in the 40th minute. Her intervention ensured that the South African champions went into half-time with their lead intact.
The second half saw Sundowns Ladies continue working towards securing maximum points, although they had to remain patient before finding more goals.
Their persistence eventually paid off in the closing stages when Nthabiseng Majiya produced a quality finish in the 86th minute to double the advantage and put her team firmly in control of the contest.
There was still time for another goal as Karabo Dhlamini converted from the penalty spot in the 90th minute to complete a convincing 3-0 victory.
The result represents another important achievement for Sundowns Ladies, who have now successfully progressed to the last four of the continental competition.
The two-time CAF Women’s Champions League winners will now turn their attention to the semi-finals as they continue their pursuit of a third continental title. Their performances in the group stages have once again demonstrated their ambition to remain among the leading forces in African women’s football.
For Sapula and his players, finishing top of Group A with seven points provides a positive foundation heading into the knockout stages, where the competition will become even more demanding.
