Ruto’s PS Dr. Raymond Omollo Showcases Kisii Affordable Housing Project Set to Benefit 189 Families

Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Dr Raymond Omollo has showcased an ambitious housing development in Kisii, highlighting the Government’s efforts to provide decent and affordable homes as the town experiences rapid population growth.

In a Facebook update, Omollo brought attention to the Nyanchwa Affordable Housing Project, popularly known as Boma Yangu Nyanchwa Estate, which is expected to provide accommodation for 189 families.

Kisii has increasingly established itself as an important socio-economic centre, attracting residents from neighbouring counties and other areas, including parts of South Nyanza.

The growing population has consequently increased pressure on existing residential facilities, prompting efforts to expand housing opportunities through planned developments.

The Nyanchwa project features two high-rise residential blocks measuring 13 and 12 floors, respectively. The buildings will provide a mixture of social housing, affordable apartments and market-rate units to serve households across different income brackets.

Beyond residential accommodation, the estate has been designed with facilities intended to make life more convenient for future occupants.

These include retail outlets, a kindergarten, a social hall and parking spaces, alongside essential water and electricity infrastructure.

Its location near Kisii Town’s Central Business District is also expected to give residents easier access to commercial establishments, public transport and other essential services.

The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration has supported the development through land regularisation and consultations with the surrounding community.

The interventions are intended to encourage orderly settlement, strengthen community participation and promote a secure living environment.

The development comes amid wider efforts to address Kenya’s housing deficit while creating modern residential neighbourhoods capable of supporting growing urban populations.
