RIP: Sad News as Prominent Mt Kenya Politician Loses His Mother Today

Murang’a nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Peter Mbogo is mourning the death of his beloved mother, Mama Damaris Muthoni Kirumwa, who passed away at the age of 84.

The sad news was announced by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata on Wednesday, November 4, through a statement shared on his official social media platforms, where he expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

In his tribute, Kang’ata described Mama Kirumwa as a devoted woman of faith whose life had positively influenced many people in Kandara and neighbouring communities.

The governor noted that the deceased was highly respected by those who knew her and had left behind a remarkable legacy that would continue through her family, particularly her son Peter Mbogo.

Kang’ata also used the opportunity to recognise Mbogo’s contribution during his time as personal assistant, praising him for his commitment, honesty and loyalty.

He described the nominated MCA as a brother and said the loss was deeply painful, extending his sympathies to him and other members of the family.

The governor further conveyed condolences on behalf of residents of Kandara and Ithiru, praying that God would grant the family strength, comfort and peace during the difficult period of mourning.

Following the announcement, several Kenyans took to social media to share messages of sympathy and encouragement with Mbogo and his relatives.

Among those who reacted was Ndungu Julius, who described the news as heartbreaking and sent his deepest condolences to the family. Weston Njoroge also joined other mourners in expressing sympathy while wishing Mbogo well in his political ambitions.

Mbogo is among the political leaders preparing for the 2027 General Election, when he intends to contest for the Ithiru Ward MCA seat on a Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) ticket.

His mother’s death comes at a difficult time as he prepares for the political contest, with leaders, friends and members of the public continuing to stand with his family.
