Massive Reactions As Woyome Files Nomination To Contest NDC National Vice Chairperson Position

Ghanaians have taken to social media to share a wide range of reactions following news that businessman and National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, has filed his nomination to contest the position of National Vice Chairperson of the party.

According to a report by Citi 97.3 FM on November 7, 2026, Mr. Woyome submitted his nomination papers to run for the influential position within the party’s leadership structure. The report quickly gained traction online, drawing numerous responses.

An overview of the public response shows a largely divided but highly animated audience. Many commenters expressed amusement and disbelief, treating the development with light-hearted humour. Others questioned the timing and suitability of his candidature, suggesting it could raise concerns about the image of the party.

Some social media users went further, describing the move as a potential reputational challenge for the NDC. Several people linked the news to long-running public debates about money and influence in Ghanaian politics, while others raised questions about unresolved financial matters connected to Mr. Woyome in the past.

Supporters of the businessman, however, welcomed his decision. They congratulated him, wished him well in the contest, and described his return to active party politics as a comeback. A few observers also noted that only time would reveal how delegates would respond to his candidature.

Meanwhile, sympathizers of rival parties joined the conversation, with some teasing the NDC over the development and others questioning whether he is a card-bearing member in good standing.

The reactions underscore how closely Ghanaians follow internal party politics, particularly when high-profile personalities are involved. As the NDC prepares for its upcoming internal elections, Mr. Woyome’s candidature is expected to remain a major talking point among party members and the wider public.
