Mandla Ncikazi Drops Truth Bomb On Golden Boot Winner Sede Dion’s Agony

Ncikazi Reveals Alarming Golden Arrows Statistics As Goal-Scoring Struggles Continue

Golden Arrows head coach Mandla Ncikazi has provided an honest assessment of his team’s struggles in front of goal, using statistics to highlight some of the key problems behind their disappointing attacking performances this season.

The Durban-based outfit have found goals difficult to come by in the Betway Premiership, with Ncikazi acknowledging that their attacking numbers have dropped significantly compared to the previous campaign.

Speaking about the team’s situation, the experienced coach pointed to statistics from their opening nine league matches, revealing that Golden Arrows have managed to score just three goals during that period.

Ncikazi explained that the problem goes beyond the strikers failing to convert opportunities, pointing instead to a lack of attacking involvement and creativity throughout the team. According to the coach, Golden Arrows are not reaching dangerous areas often enough to put opposition defences under consistent pressure.

He also highlighted a reduction in final passes and shots at goal, suggesting that the team must improve its approach when moving into the opposition’s half.

“The final pass, we have reduced, the shots at goal have reduced, then it tells you the final third needs to be worked on. Defensively they have been doing well,” Ncikazi explained.

The coach further identified a disconnect between the team’s build-up play and its attacking movements. Although Golden Arrows have shown an ability to progress the ball from the back and enter the middle third, they have struggled to turn that possession into meaningful attacking opportunities.

This is particularly concerning considering that the club previously ranked among the best teams in recovering possession in the attacking third last season.

Ncikazi believes the solution will require tactical adjustments rather than simply changing the players available to him. He has made it clear that the team’s strategy, training methods and attacking instructions must be examined to restore their previous effectiveness.

Interestingly, Golden Arrows still have experienced attacking options, including Sede Junior Dion, who won the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot last season. However, the supply of opportunities to the forward has become a major concern.

The coach’s return to the club has therefore brought an important responsibility: restoring the attacking identity that previously made Abafana Bes’thende difficult opponents.

With the season still offering opportunities to recover, Ncikazi will be hoping that improvements in the final third translate into more goals and better results.

For Golden Arrows, the message from their coach is clear: the problem has been identified through statistics, and the responsibility now lies with the technical team and players to find the right solutions.

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit will need to turn those findings into performances if they are to climb the Betway Premiership standings and regain their attacking confidence.
