Ken Ofori-Atta’s Heartfelt Tribute To The Late Dr. Bampoe Addo From Abroad Causes Stir Online

According to a report by The1957News on Saturday, November 7, 2026, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has paid tribute to the late leader of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), Dr. Bampoe Addo. The tribute has drawn mixed reactions from Ghanaians online.

In his message, Mr. Ofori-Atta described Dr. Bampoe Addo as a formidable negotiator. He said the late labour leader defended the interests of workers without compromising Ghana’s economic recovery. He noted that Dr. Bampoe Addo’s work left a lasting mark on the country’s labour movement.

Soon after the tribute was shared, social media users flooded the comment section with reactions. Many of them focused on the fact that the former minister is currently outside the country. One user described the message as a “tribute from exile,” while another called it a “virtual tribute.” A user also wondered whether he was in Ghana or had sent the message from abroad.

Several commenters urged Mr. Ofori-Atta to return home. Some said he should attend the funeral in person. Others asked him to come back and account for his time in office. One user said Ghanaians had missed him, while another asked him to come and answer to the good people of Ghana.

A few commenters took a more sarcastic tone. Some joked that he should come and read the tribute in person. Others said he should send his contribution to the family.

Not everyone reacted with criticism. One user blamed those who conveyed the tribute on his behalf rather than the former minister himself.

At the time of this report, Mr. Ofori-Atta had not responded to the comments. The tribute has, however, shifted attention once again to his absence from Ghana and the calls for his return.

The reactions show how strongly Ghanaians still feel about the former minister, even as the nation mourns the loss of a respected labour leader.
