Inside Malaika Beach Resort, the Mwanza Hotel That Hosted Ruto’s Family During Charlene’s Wedding

Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, Tanzania, has attracted attention after hosting President William Ruto and his family during the wedding celebrations of his daughter, Charlene Ruto, and her Tanzanian husband, Isaya Yunge.

The couple exchanged vows in a garden ceremony at the lakeside property before holding their after wedding party at the same venue.

Situated along the shores of Lake Victoria, the resort provided a scenic setting for the celebrations, with its lakeside views and spacious grounds making it suitable for hosting large events.

Beyond its role in the high-profile wedding, Malaika Beach Resort is known for its accommodation, recreational facilities and event hosting capacity.

Located in Mwanza, the resort overlooks Lake Victoria, offering guests views of the lake and its surrounding landscape. The property combines accommodation and leisure facilities, making it suitable for visitors seeking a relaxing stay as well as those attending organised events.

According to TUKO, accommodation rates at the resort range from approximately $154 to $200 (KSh 20,000 to KSh 26,000) per night, depending on the season.

Malaika Beach Resort has 50 rooms and suites, including executive and deluxe accommodation options. Guests have access to three restaurants and bars: Malaika Restaurant, Mawimbi Restaurant and a pool bar.

Among its recreational facilities is an infinity pool overlooking Lake Victoria, alongside a private beach reserved for guests. The resort also has a spa and fitness centre. Families travelling with children are catered for through a dedicated family centre where young guests can play and take part in activities.

The resort also offers facilities for weddings, conferences and other major gatherings. Its outdoor wedding lawns can accommodate up to 4,000 guests, while its indoor function rooms and convention facilities can host up to 3,000 people.

These facilities, combined with the garden setting and views of Lake Victoria, made the property a suitable location for Charlene and Isaya’s wedding celebrations. Its conference spaces are also designed to accommodate different types of events, positioning it as more than just a leisure destination.

The presence of President William Ruto and his family during Charlene’s wedding brought additional attention to the Mwanza property.

Other family members and people accompanying the President were also captured during the visit. In a separate moment shared by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, First Son Nick Ruto was seen briefly running over to hand his father a phone.

With its accommodation, lakeside setting and capacity to host large gatherings, Malaika Beach Resort was the backdrop for one of the family’s notable celebrations in Tanzania.
