Oburu Odinga’s Second Wife Becomes Talking Point at Charlene Ruto’s Wedding as Outfit Sparks Debate

A fashion moment involving Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga’s second wife has sparked discussion among Kenyans after photographs of her arrival at President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene’s wedding in Tanzania circulated on social media.

The woman, identified online as Oburu’s second wife, attracted attention because of her choice of outfit during the high-profile celebration that brought together prominent Kenyan politicians, government officials and other distinguished guests.

Charlene tied the knot with Tanzanian businessman Isaya Yunge on Friday, November 6, at the luxurious Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, Tanzania. The ceremony attracted several influential personalities from Kenya and Tanzania, making it one of the most talked-about social events of the weekend.

However, a photograph capturing members of the Odinga delegation arriving at the Mwanza airstrip became an unexpected talking point, with social media users focusing on Oburu’s wife and her dressing.

She wore a flowing pink and purple tie-dye kaftan-style dress featuring wide, short sleeves. She completed the look with black flat shoes, dark sunglasses, a braided hairstyle and a colourful floral handbag.

Her relaxed outfit attracted mixed reactions, with some Kenyans questioning whether it matched the glamour associated with a presidential wedding.

Some critics jokingly used the phrase “Fundi afutwe”, suggesting that the tailor responsible for the outfit should be dismissed.

Others, however, came to her defence, arguing that there was nothing wrong with her dressing and that she appeared comfortable and presentable.

A section of social media users also questioned why women were being subjected to criticism over their fashion choices, maintaining that guests should be free to dress according to their preferences.

The debate comes at a time when Charlene’s wedding has continued to attract attention, with Kenyans closely examining the fashion choices of guests who travelled to Tanzania for the celebration.

President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto, alongside several political leaders and government officials, were among those who attended the ceremony.

Oburu’s wife’s appearance has consequently become one of the unexpected fashion talking points from the star-studded wedding.
