“I voted for him but can’t see him” – Elderly woman receives TV, fridge after appeal to Mahama

According to a Post by Ghanaweb on Friday, November 6, 2026, an elderly woman who appealed in a viral video for a television set has received one, following an intervention by President John Dramani Mahama.

In the clip, which caught the President’s attention, the woman said she had heard of Mr Mahama and voted for him, but had never seen his face because she owns no television. She said she wanted to be able to watch him whenever he appeared on screen.

“I have not seen him before, but I have heard of him. I have heard he is the president and I voted for him. I would like to meet him even though I don’t know him. I cannot make him out if he is standing before me unless someone says he is the president. I don’t own a TV to be able to see him,” she said.

President Mahama referred her appeal to the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who visited her at Muronaim in the Asante Akim South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

A video shared on Facebook by the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council on November 5, 2026, shows the Minister presenting the woman with a 43-inch television set, a refrigerator and cash support.

The woman expressed gratitude to the President for responding to her plea. “God bless him, and I thank him for his gesture,” she said, adding that she prayed for him to deliver on his mandate.

She also appealed to his appointees to work hard so that her grandchildren could benefit from the country’s development.
