“I Didn’t Want Themba Zwane To Retire On A Red Card He Got In America” Pitso Mosimane Hit Out

Themba Zwane’s last international appearance was against South Africa, and former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has spoken publicly about his thoughts over the game, saying that he did not want the midfielder’s career to end in disappointment.

The circumstances surrounding the red card got by the veteran midfielder Zwane in his final game in the US apparently led Mosimane to voice his disgust.

“Themba Zwane’s last game was in America, and I didn’t want him to retire because of a red card,” Mosimane said.

The remarks made by the former Bafana Bafana coach show how deeply personal football can be, especially when it concerns a player who has devoted a great deal of time and energy to playing for his nation and having a positive impact on the sport.

The revered midfielder Zwane, who goes by the nickname “Mshishi,” has made a name for himself in South Africa. Everyone from fans to players to coaches is in awe of his technical skill, poise, imagination, and game knowledge.

Zwane played an integral part of Mamelodi Sundowns’ success when he was there, and he also helped the Brazilians become unrivalled in South African football and a top side on the continent.

His play also ensured that he would be included among the best South African players of his time.

Mosimane seems to have preferred that Zwane’s farewell performance not represent a regrettable disciplinary episode but rather the discipline, quality, and accomplishments that characterised his career based on his comments.

Many fans would not have wanted a red card to terminate an international career for a player who has contributed so much to the national team.

Still, no one game or bad incident can diminish Zwane’s impact on South African football.

In the end, his leadership, achievements, and impact on future players will be what people remember him by.

Rather than focusing on the outcome of his last game, Themba Zwane should be recognised for everything that he accomplished.
