Hlompho Kekana Sends Strong Warning to Sekhukhune United Ahead of Pirates Clash

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Hlompho Kekana has urged football supporters and Sekhukhune United to give Orlando Pirates the respect they deserve ahead of their Carling Knockout Cup encounter.

Kekana believes the Buccaneers should not be underestimated, considering their recent performances, squad depth and impressive achievements in South African football.

Speaking about the upcoming fixture, the former Bafana Bafana international highlighted how Pirates have continued to perform consistently, even when making changes to their starting lineup.

According to Kekana, one of the biggest strengths of the Soweto giants is their ability to introduce young players who are hungry, motivated and eager to represent the club. He believes these youngsters have shown that they are capable of stepping up whenever they are given an opportunity.

Pirates are also heading into the encounter as defending champions of the Carling Knockout Cup. This gives them another reason to approach the match with confidence as they look to protect their title and continue their pursuit of silverware.

Kekana also pointed to the club’s remarkable achievements last season, when they won three trophies. He believes such success should not be taken lightly because winning a treble in South African football requires consistency, quality and strong teamwork.

The former Sundowns star further mentioned Pirates’ record at Amstel Arena, popularly known as Es’godini, while explaining why he believes the Buccaneers deserve respect heading into the encounter.

His comments highlight the challenge facing Sekhukhune United, who will need to produce a strong performance if they want to eliminate the defending champions from the competition.

For Orlando Pirates, the objective will be to maintain their winning mentality and demonstrate why they remain one of the most competitive teams in the country.

The Buccaneers have built a reputation for competing for major honours, and their supporters will be expecting another determined performance.

Kekana’s message is clear: Orlando Pirates have earned their respect through their performances and achievements, and any opponent facing them must be prepared for a difficult contest.
