Going After Peter Obi Shows That They Have Gotten The Memo That Rigging Will Not Be An Option—Yesufu
Prominent human rights activist and vocal supporter of Peter Obi’s presidential ambitions, Aisha Yesufu, has taken aim at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing party leaders of mounting a coordinated smear campaign against the former Anambra State governor ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yesufu’s criticism followed serious allegations leveled against Obi by Senator Adams Oshiomhole during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program.
Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District and serves as a key champion of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, accused Obi of manipulating financial records and stashing assets overseas to evade domestic taxes.
“Peter Obi does not pay tax,” Oshiomhole stated during the broadcast. “He cleverly manipulates the books and keeps his own taxes and a lot of his huge assets offshore.”
A video clip of Oshiomhole’s comments quickly gained traction on social media, prompting a sharp response from Yesufu.
Writing on her official X account, the activist argued that the ruling party’s persistent focus on Obi demonstrates that APC leaders view him as a formidable opponent whom they cannot easily dismiss.
“APC is obsessed with Peter Obi!” Yesufu wrote. “The way they are all going after him now shows that they have gotten the memo that rigging will not be an option, so they are resorting to smear campaigns.”
Yesufu further suggested that the recent surge in political attacks aimed at damaging Obi’s public reputation highlights growing anxiety within the APC camp regarding the upcoming 2027 presidential contest.
