GFA releases first tranche of GH¢120,000 support to Division One clubs

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released the first tranche of its annual GH¢120,000 financial support package to all 48 clubs participating in the 2026/27 Division One League.

The initiative, which is being funded through the GFA’s sponsorship partnership with Universal Merchant Bank, is aimed at easing the financial burden on clubs and improving their ability to meet administrative and operational expenses.

Under the arrangement, each participating club is entitled to GH¢120,000 annually to support its activities throughout the season.

The financial assistance is expected to help clubs manage key expenses, including player welfare, transportation, logistics and administrative operations, as they compete in Ghana’s second-tier league.

The GFA said the intervention forms part of broader efforts to improve the financial stability of clubs and create a more sustainable environment for football development.

In addition to the direct financial support, the Association has reaffirmed its commitment to covering selected matchday expenses for the competition.

These include payments for referees, Match Commissioners, venue media officers and cameramen, further reducing the financial responsibilities of participating clubs during league fixtures.
