“Get Used to His Leadership” Kawira Mwangaza Advices Kenyans to Prepare for this Leader as President
Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has urged Kenyans to prepare for the possibility of Edwin Sifuna becoming the country’s next president, signalling her confidence in the Nairobi Senator’s political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Mwangaza made the remarks as she aligned herself with Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi movement, which is seeking to build a national platform and challenge President William Ruto.
Her statement is likely to attract attention because Sifuna is among opposition figures positioning themselves for the presidency.
Sifuna has openly expressed interest in running for the top seat, saying public support gathered during his countrywide tours has encouraged him to seek a bigger leadership role.
The senator has urged opposition leaders to unite behind one candidate to avoid splitting votes and giving the ruling side an advantage.
Mwangaza is expected to play a key role after being named among the proposed deputy party leaders during the unveiling of the movement’s interim leadership team in Nairobi.
The former governor brings political experience and a support network in the Mount Kenya East region, where she served as Meru governor after winning the 2022 election as an independent candidate.
Her inclusion reflects Sifuna’s efforts to attract leaders from different regions as the movement seeks to expand its support base.
The proposed team also includes former Law Society of Kenya president Faith Odhiambo and Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau as deputy party leaders.
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been proposed to coordinate Sifuna’s presidential campaign, while Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi is expected to serve as party chairperson.
The movement says it offers political change and greater accountability.
However, Sifuna’s ambitions face the challenge of securing support from opposition leaders who have their own plans for the 2027 race.
The opposition will need a common strategy and convince voters that it can offer a credible alternative.
Mwangaza’s remarks underline the confidence among Sifuna’s allies, although the final decision will rest with all eligible voters when Kenyans head to the ballot in August 2027.
