“The Ground Has Shifted ” Naomi Admits After Noticing What Has Happened to Ruto’s 2022 Strongholds
Political analyst Naomi Waithira has claimed that President William Ruto has lost significant support among key voting blocs that contributed to his victory in the 2022 General Election.
In a statement shared by The Kenya Times, Waithira outlined the demographic groups that previously backed the president and suggested that his current political standing has weakened considerably.
According to her analysis, the president secured substantial votes in 2022 from four main groups.
These included residents of the Rift Valley region, voters in the Central region, the mama mboga and bodaboda demographics, and the church. Waithira said that the current political landscape indicates a shift in this support base.
She stated that the president now primarily relies on the Rift Valley region and the Orange Democratic Movement.
Waithira characterized the remaining political structure as a shell of its former self implying that the broader coalition which originally propelled him to power has diminished.
The analyst argued that the administration is currently hoping to rely on these two entities to salvage its political position moving forward.
This assessment comes amid ongoing political realignments and evolving public sentiment.
The commentary shows the importance of the small scale traders and religious institutions in the country’s electoral math.
While the statement points to a loss of backing in Central and among specific economic groups, it also underscores the current reliance on ODM support, which represents a major shift from the 2022 campaign dynamics.
The observations made by the analyst feed into the broader national conversation regarding the administration’s popularity and the changing nature of political alliances in the country.
