Don Jazzy, Chioma Akpotha, others react as Diewait Ikpechukwu’s daughter pleads for privacy

Nollywood stars, including music producer Don Jazzy and actresses Chioma Akpotha, Peggy Ovire and Uche Elendu, have reacted after the daughter of late actor Diewait Ikpechukwu appealed for privacy following his death.

Ikpechukwu died on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the age of 71, after a prolonged illness.

His daughter, Chiamaka, made the appeal in an emotional video shared on social media, asking the public and members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to allow her family to grieve privately.

She called on the guild to remove an alleged burial announcement poster of her father, insisting that she should be the one to announce his death. She also urged people not to call her or share his burial information without her consent.

In the video, she said she was still struggling with the loss and asked the public to respect her family’s privacy.

The appeal attracted reactions from several celebrities in the comments section.

Don Jazzy responded with heartbroken emojis, while Chioma Akpotha wrote, “So sorry, sweetheart. Jide obi gi aka biko nwannem”

Peggy Ovire wrote, “Oh my God, so sorry, sis”

Monalisa Chinda also expressed her sadness with broken heart emojis.

The AGN National President, Alhaji Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, announced Ikpechukwu’s death in an Instagram tribute on Friday, November 6, describing him as another legend who had bowed out.

Before venturing into acting, Ikpechukwu was a footballer who played as a right winger and received an invitation to the Green Eagles camp. He also worked with the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL), where he rose to the position of Senior Manager, Marketing.

He began his acting career with the Nigerian Television Authority’s Enugu production, Second Chance, before making his feature film debut in Evil Men in 1998.

He later featured in several Nollywood productions, including The August Meeting, Royal Palace (2005), The Guilty (2006), Across the River (2006), Python King (2007) and Ìjé Love (2022).

Ikpechukwu also served as the pioneer chairman of the AGN Enugu State chapter.
