Akufo-Addo Sold Ghana To The World, Mahama Is Selling Ghana To Drug Barons

There was a time Ghana was the pride of every black person in the world.

Under President Akufo-Addo, Ghana became a home. With the Year of Return, he opened the door and told all our brothers and sisters abroad: Come home. Come and see where you came from. Come and invest. Come and belong.

Black Americans came. Black British came. Black people from the Caribbean came. From Brazil, from Jamaica, from everywhere. They came to Cape Coast Castle. They cried. They danced. They bought land. They built houses. They started businesses. They got Ghanaian citizenship. They told the world: Ghana is beautiful. Ghana is safe. Ghana is home.

Akufo-Addo marketed Ghana well. He made our flag respected. He made our name sweet in the mouth of every black person. When you said you were Ghanaian abroad, people smiled. They wanted to visit. They wanted to come and taste our jollof, hear our music, feel our culture.

But look at what we have become in less than two years under John Mahama.

This is what Kwaku Dawuro is saying, and he is not lying. In less than two years, this government has tarnished our image with cocaine-related exports.

Today, when the world hears Ghana, they no longer think of Year of Return. They think of cocaine. They think of drugs hidden in gari sacks. Drugs hidden in cassava flour. Drugs hidden in wood. Drugs hidden in plastic waste. Drugs seized in France. Drugs seized in Belgium. Drugs seized in Holland. Drugs seized in Australia.

France seized almost 3.9 tonnes of cocaine from a container that came from Ghana. That one alone was worth about 225 million euros. Belgium says Ghana is now among the top countries sending cocaine to their port. The NPP has counted about 14 major drug busts linked to Ghana between March 2025 and October 2026. That is shameful.

Akufo-Addo spent eight years building a name. Mahama’s government is spending less than two years destroying it.

The Year of Return brought tourists, investors, and respect. Cocaine exports bring police, suspicion, and disgrace. When a Ghanaian passport is seen at an airport now, people start to look twice. When a container leaves Tema Harbour now, foreign customs start to watch it well well. That is what tarnishing an image means.

Kwaku Dawuro asked a simple question: How can a country that was known for homecoming become known for cocaine?

Ghana was once the Black Star of Africa. Now, people are calling us “Cocaine Coast.” That name did not come from nowhere. It came from the many cocaine cases that keep coming out under this government.

Akufo-Addo gave the world a reason to love Ghana. Mahama’s government is giving the world a reason to fear Ghana.

We cannot allow this to continue. The government must sit up. It must clean our ports. It must clean our image. It must protect the beautiful name that Akufo-Addo built with Year of Return.

Because if we lose that name, we lose tourism. We lose investors. We lose respect. We lose everything.

Ghana deserves better than cocaine headlines.
