GFA Settles GH¢84,000 Outstanding Medical Bills For Mothers At Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), acting on behalf of the senior national football team, the Black Stars, has paid GH¢84,000 to clear outstanding medical bills owed by mothers receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

According to a report by GHOne TV on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the financial intervention was aimed at supporting mothers who had accumulated unpaid medical expenses while receiving healthcare at the major referral hospital.

The payment is expected to provide considerable relief to the beneficiaries, some of whom may have faced financial difficulties in settling the costs of their treatment.

Medical expenses can place a significant burden on families, particularly those already dealing with the challenges of hospitalisation and other healthcare needs. The GFA’s intervention has therefore helped address the outstanding financial obligations of the affected mothers.

The initiative was undertaken in the name of the Black Stars, highlighting the national team’s involvement in activities beyond its responsibilities in football competitions.

Although the Black Stars are primarily known for representing Ghana in international tournaments, the latest development demonstrates how the country’s football institutions can also contribute to humanitarian and social welfare initiatives.

The settlement at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has also drawn attention to the financial challenges some patients encounter when accessing medical services.

By covering the GH¢84,000 outstanding amount, the Ghana Football Association has helped ease the financial pressure on the affected mothers and supported efforts to ensure that unpaid medical bills do not become an additional burden during their recovery.

The gesture adds a humanitarian dimension to the activities of the GFA and the Black Stars, while highlighting the importance of partnerships and financial assistance in supporting vulnerable patients across Ghana.
