You Organised Yɛ Gye Yɛn Sika Demo Just to Scam the Rented Demonstrators – Kwabena Bobie Ansah
According to an Official Facebook Post by Kwabena Bobie Ansah on 6 November 2026, he has accused the organisers of the recent “Yɛ Gye Yɛn Sika” demonstration of short-changing demonstrators after allegedly promising them GH¢100 each but paying only GH¢40.
In his strongly worded commentary, Kwabena Bobie Ansah questioned the integrity of those behind the demonstration, suggesting that the very people who mobilised participants to demand accountability had allegedly failed to honour their own financial commitments to the demonstrators.
He claimed that participants were promised GH¢100 for taking part in the protest but eventually received GH¢40, leaving a difference of GH¢60.
Expressing his frustration in a mixture of English and Twi, he wrote: “Sɛ ɛdam ooo, you can’t tell. GH¢60 Nchobo.” His statement appears to suggest that the alleged deduction or withholding of GH¢60 was something the organisers could not easily explain away.
The comments have introduced another dimension into the controversy surrounding the “Yɛ Gye Yɛn Sika” demonstration, which has attracted political attention and public debate over accountability, financial transparency and the conduct of political actors.
The irony highlighted in his post is particularly significant. A demonstration organised around demands for money and accountability now faces allegations that some of its own participants may have been denied the full amount they were allegedly promised.
If the allegations are accurate, questions would naturally arise about who negotiated the payments, who provided the money, and why demonstrators allegedly received less than the promised amount.
However, the claims about the payments remain allegations attributed to Kwabena Bobie Ansah and would require independent confirmation before being treated as established facts.
The development also raises a broader question about political demonstrations in Ghana: should individuals who mobilise citizens to demand accountability not be equally transparent and accountable to the people they recruit?
For Kwabena Bobie Ansah, the alleged GH¢60 difference is at the centre of the controversy, turning a demonstration about money into another debate about money.
