Pitso Plans PSL Club Visits to Strengthen Relationship With Coaches

Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has stressed the importance of building strong relationships with coaches in the Premier Soccer League, revealing his intention to visit clubs personally to strengthen cooperation between the national team and domestic sides.

The coach believes that maintaining regular communication with PSL technical teams is an important part of managing the national team, particularly because several players who represent South Africa at international level are based at local clubs.

Mosimane’s proposed visits are expected to create opportunities for direct engagement with club coaches, allowing discussions about players, their performances and their development. Such interactions could also help the national team technical team gain a better understanding of the conditions surrounding players at their respective clubs.

His comments also indicated agreement with a position previously expressed by the Orlando Pirates coach, highlighting the need for cooperation between national team officials and club managers.

Relations between national team coaches and club coaches are important because both parties have responsibilities towards the same players. While clubs focus on domestic competitions and their own objectives, the national team requires players to be available and prepared for international assignments.

By visiting PSL clubs, Mosimane hopes to establish a more direct working relationship with the coaches and encourage better communication. This could help reduce misunderstandings and ensure that discussions concerning players are handled through constructive engagement.

The initiative also reflects the importance of involving domestic clubs in the broader development of South African football. With the PSL providing opportunities for several national team players, cooperation between the two levels remains a significant part of Bafana Bafana’s preparations.

Mosimane’s remarks underline his desire to maintain open communication with club coaches rather than allowing differences in responsibilities to affect their working relationship.
