KCSE Crisis Raises Safety Concerns After Exam Disruption At Kisii School
Police are investigating an incident at Nyabisase Mixed Secondary School in Kisii County after students disrupted national examinations and a police officer’s firearm went missing during the unrest.
The incident occurred on Thursday when students reportedly confronted Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) officials and police officers at the school. The firearm was later recovered following a search of the school compound.
The incident comes months after students at the same school staged protests over changes in the school’s leadership in June. The unrest reportedly led to property damage and assaults on teachers.
The latest disruption has raised concerns about the school’s handling of student grievances and the measures in place to maintain order during national examinations. It also highlights the need for school administrators to address disputes before they escalate into violence.
Candidates across the country are currently sitting their KCSE examinations, making a safe and orderly environment essential for students and examination officials.
