Just Hours After Gachagua Lost His Elder Sister, Fred Matiang’i Breaks Silence – Details
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has sent a message of condolence to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following the death of his elder sister, Eunice Nyangari Gachagua.
Matiang’i, who leads the Jubilee Party, shared his message on Friday, November 6. He addressed Gachagua as a brother and colleague, expressing sympathy to him and the wider family.
Matiang’i recognised the important place Eunice held in the family. He described her as a mother figure, a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom to her relatives.
He also extended condolences on behalf of the Jubilee Party and in his own capacity. His message included Eunice’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as other members of the Reriani family.
Gachagua announced his sister’s death earlier on Friday. He said Eunice had died in Naro Moru and was 77 years old. She was the firstborn child of the late Mzee Nahashon Gachagua Reriani and the late Martha Kirigo Gachagua.
The former Deputy President said his sister had taken on the role of a mother in the family after their own mother died seven years ago. He remembered her as a warm and cheerful person whose advice and presence would be greatly missed.
Gachagua extended his sympathies to Eunice’s daughter, Waithera, her son, Murimi, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the wider family. He said his family shared in their grief and expressed gratitude for the 77 years she had lived.
The cause of Eunice’s death has not been made public. Funeral arrangements had also not been announced in the family messages.
Matiang’i’s message adds to the condolences reaching Gachagua following the family loss. The former Deputy President and his relatives are mourning Eunice, who played a central role in their family for several years.
