Charlene Ruto Reveals What She Did for Isaya Yunge 16 Years Before Their Wedding

Charlene Ruto’s white wedding in Mwanza, Tanzania, was filled with moments, but her vows to Isaya Yunge gave guests a glimpse into a love story she says began long before they met.

During the ceremony at Malaika Beach Hotel on Friday, November 6, the President’s daughter revealed that she had started praying for her future husband in Form One, about 16 years ago.

At the time, she did not know his name or what he looked like. She believed that one day she would marry.

Charlene explained that her prayers were inspired by Matthew 17:20, a Bible verse that compares faith to a mustard seed. She said the message encouraged her to trust God with her future, even when she had no idea who her husband would be.

She also spoke about receiving prophecies over the years. One moment she recalled involved preacher Pastor Benny Hinn, who prayed during a Nairobi crusade in late 2024 for Isaya to come into her life soon.

The moment attracted attention, but her wedding vows offered more context.

Charlene further shared that, during what she called a faithless hour, she wrote down 15 qualities she hoped to find in a husband.

She prayed over the list, believing she had captured everything she wanted. However, she told Isaya that he had gone beyond her expectations, with God adding qualities she had not thought to include.

The speech came after the couple celebrated their traditional Kalenjin Koito ceremony on August 8 at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.

The white wedding in Isaya’s hometown brought together relatives, friends and prominent guests from Kenya and Tanzania.

President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto were among those celebrating with their daughter. The vows made the occasion more than a lavish wedding, offering guests an account of Charlene’s faith, patience and hopes for marriage.
