Isaya Yunge’s High School Headteacher Speaks After His Mega Wedding to Charlene Ruto

The headteacher of Taqwa High School in Ilemela District has praised former student Isaya Yunge after his wedding to Charlene Ruto, daughter of Kenyan President William Ruto, on November 6, 2026.

Abdallah Bakari Liwali spoke to Jembe FM 93.7 Mwanza from what appeared to be his office, with a “H/Master” nameplate visible behind him.

He congratulated the groom warmly, saying, “La kwanza nataka kumpongeza kwa hili jambo amefanya. Nampongeza sana.” He added that Isaya had built a strong image both inside Tanzania and abroad.

Liwali recalled that Isaya was disciplined and responsible as a student, and said those qualities motivated his classmates to study harder and work together.

He described the decision to marry as a sign of good values, noting that marriage is an act of worship and among the most important steps a person can take.

He urged the groom to keep serving his community without tiring and called on other young people to follow his example, saying, “Vijana wengine wote wafuate mfano.”

The headteacher also used the interview to encourage Tanzanian youth. He said background and upbringing should not decide anyone’s destiny, and that any young person with a vision, a willingness to invest in themselves and the determination to push through challenges can achieve great things, whatever family or region they come from.

He pointed out that Isaya and his bride both came from humble beginnings and had reached a remarkable milestone through hard work and focus.

The interview was filmed alongside footage of the couple outside Taqwa High School and inside an exam room, linking the story to Isaya’s school days.

The wedding drew wide attention across the region and placed the lakeside city firmly in the national spotlight.
