Don’t Become Someone’s Dog Caretaker Abroad — Medikal Fires Strong Warning At Teephlow

According to recent reports, Ghanaian rapper Medikal has offered blunt advice to fellow musician Teephlow regarding the realities of relocating overseas, cautioning him against abandoning his musical career to take on menial work in search of greener pastures.

In a direct message that has sparked widespread discussion across Ghana’s entertainment landscape, Medikal warned Teephlow not to let financial strain or societal expectations drive him into decisions he might later regret.

“Don’t let pressure push you abroad to look after someone’s dog,” Medikal urged, emphasizing that moving overseas is not an automatic remedy for professional or economic hurdles.

Medikal’s comments highlight a recurring dilemma faced by many African creatives and professionals: the temptation to swap local ambitions for menial jobs abroad due to economic pressure. For musicians in particular, relocating can sever crucial local industry ties, interrupt creative momentum, and derail hard-won visibility. Teephlow, known for his sharp lyrical prowess in Ghanaian hip-hop, has earned respect within the industry, making Medikal’s warning resonate as a plea for career preservation and self-worth.

While acknowledging that seeking opportunities abroad is not inherently negative, Medikal urged artistes to align their choices with long-term goals rather than reactive desperation. He stressed the importance of resilience, strategic career management, and maintaining personal dignity over chasing perceived overseas prosperity.

The exchange has ignited broader conversations among fans and industry observers about the economic pressures confronting Ghanaian musicians today. As artists navigate the balancing act between passion and financial stability, Medikal’s message serves as a stark reminder to evaluate whether relocating truly advances an individual’s long-term purpose or simply trades local hustle for foreign compromises.
