Captain Smart Clears The Air On His NPP Membership

According to a report by Ghanaian citizen TV on Thursday November 5, 2026, Broadcast journalist Captain Smart has publicly clarified his political membership, insisting that although he has admiration for former President John Agyekum Kufuor, he has never been a registered member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the outspoken media personality, his appreciation for the former president should not be interpreted as an indication that he has ever belonged to the NPP.

He explained that his political affiliation has been with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stressing that it is the only political party whose membership card he has ever possessed.

Captain Smart made his position clear in a statement in which he distinguished his personal admiration for Kufuor from his political identity.

“I love JA Kuffuor but I have never been a registered member of the NPP. The NDC is the only political party whose membership card I have ever held,” he stated.

His comments appear intended to address perceptions and possible questions surrounding his political background, particularly regarding his relationship with personalities associated with different political traditions.

By openly declaring that he has never registered with the NPP, Captain Smart maintained that admiration for an individual politician does not necessarily translate into membership or allegiance to that person’s political party.

The journalist’s statement also reinforces his claim that the NDC remains the only political organisation with which he has formally held membership.

His remarks have brought renewed attention to discussions about his political identity and the distinction between appreciating political leaders and maintaining formal party affiliation.
