Kenya Power Announces Wednesday Blackouts

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions affecting parts of Kiambu and Kwale counties on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as the company carries out routine maintenance on its electricity network.

The scheduled exercise is expected to leave some households, businesses and institutions without electricity for between seven and eight hours.

In Kiambu County, the interruption will affect parts of Mwihoko from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas listed in the notice include Mwithiritia SDA, St Lucy Kiriri University, Muigai, Discovery and Mutuya. Other customers connected to the affected electricity network may also experience the outage.

In Kwale County, the interruption will affect the Petrocity Bonje area from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The affected facilities include Shell Bonje, Kilimanjaro Biscuits, Petrocity, Afro Afya and Premium Fuels. Customers in neighbouring areas supplied through the affected network may also be affected.

Kenya Power said the interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance work aimed at improving electricity supply and the reliability of its distribution network.

The announcement is important for residents and business owners who depend on electricity for daily activities. Households may need to charge electronic devices in advance, while businesses using electrical equipment are advised to make arrangements before the scheduled interruption.

Customers are also encouraged to treat the power lines as live throughout the maintenance period because electricity may be restored earlier than the announced time.
